The foundation of any democracy is an informed citizenry, and currently, radio is the best tool to provide communities with news and information that they need. The Community Radio Taiama give both Njala student and communities youth voice to discuss issues including health education, anti-social behavior and also provide a gateway to learn new skills surrounding broadcasting and to encourage communities participation within the chiefdom and help celebrate diversity through means of radio.
The project would contribute to enhancing tolerance and mutual understanding by providing a means of participation within communities to better understand their responsibilities in their society. Community radio Taiama also provides a forum for public debate and the interchange of ideas—a key element of any democratic society.
