Welcome to MSAL Sierra Leone
Mid South Africa Link (MSAL) is a chartered and registered not for profit organization that is also registered with the USA Internal Revenue Service to promote partnership between Africa and USA communities through services in health, education, creative arts and well being. Capacity building of partners so that they will take ownership in their own development process and promote meaningful collaborative educational projects that both enhance learning and make a difference in its operational area.
In 2010, Mid South Africa Link registered in Sierra Leone as a non for profit organization with the government of Sierra Leone. The overarching goal of MSAL is to contribute to the endeavors of supporting the people of Taiama communities.
Taiama is a rural community of about five thousand people in the Southern Provence, Moyamba District of Sierra Leone. Over 70% of reported health problems in the clinics in Taiama are from waterborne related diseases, which result from poor basic sanitation and lack of access to clean, reliable water. The high cost of treatment-creates a vicious cycle of disease and dependency which hinders rural development.

The Opportunity
Water is fundamental for life, but clean water is fundamental for growth and prosperity. Poor sanitation and water contamination are key disease vectors in Sierra Leone, hindering development due to high costs in medical treatment, diminished productivity, and lives lost. Disease prevention requires access to clean water, sanitation, public health awareness and education. Empowering women is critical to establishing childhood education and enrichment in rural communities, which drives economic advancement.
